Children and Young People's Partnership
The Children & Young People’s Strategic Partnership brings together, as equal partners, all of the agencies who work to improve the lives of Children and Young People in the city.
All of the organisations working together are able to effectively and efficiently achieve jointly agreed outcomes for Children, Young People and their families.
The partnership aims to support the whole family and so it also works with those who support adults and families where they have a direct impact on the well-being and safety of our children and young people.
The priorities of the partnership are set out in the Children & Young People’s Plan – the current plan is under review and a new plan will be operational from January 2010. This will be available on this site
The key priorities for the Partnership are:
- to ensure the safety of all children and young people, especially those who are the most vulnerable.
- improve the health of babies
- promote healthy lifestyles
- improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people, including those for whom the city council is the corporate parent, or homeless, have learning difficulties and/or are vulnerable to crime or exploitation
- ensure that learning outcomes improve in particular areas of underperformance
- ensure young people are motivated to make a positive contribution to their communities, including the rejection of bullying, crime and activity that is gang related
- improve access to services and leisure resources for children and young people in locations which best suit their needs
- reduce teenage pregnancies
- improve the number if young people aged 18 who are in education, employment and training
- reduce the impact of child poverty on children and young people’s achievements and well-being.
The Partnership also agrees how information is shared between professionals working with families and how, why and when, work takes place.
