Local Neighbourhood Partnerships (LNP)
Relationships between service providers and local communities are changing. Local people are much more aware: they have higher expectations about the kinds of services they want; they want greater choice and much more say and involvement in decisions about how services are delivered to meet their needs.
Local Neighbourhood Partnerships (LNPs) provide the means for local communities throughout Wolverhampton to work with service providers and commissioners in shaping the design, planning and delivery of public services. The aim of the LNP service is to empower local people to shape public services and the future of their neighbourhood.
14 Local Neighbourhood Partnerships (LNPs) have been established across the City (see map below) bringing together all the interests in the area: local people, local community groups, councillors, voluntary and community sector partners and public sector organisations.
Wolverhampton City Council has successfully applied to become a “Neighbourhood Planning Vanguard” for the areas of Tettenhall, Heathfield Park and Bilston. Government sees “Neighbourhood Planning” as a catalyst for bringing local people together and engaging local communities in shaping the future of their areas. These Plans will be developed and written by the ‘neighbourhood’ and once adopted, will become part of the Local Development Framework (link to www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/ldf), against which all planning applications will be assessed. The Councils Planning Policy section and the LNP service are assisting communities in preparing these plans. Further information about the Neighbourhood Plans can be found via the links below:
