Green City Group Environmental issues affecting the City are discussed by representatives from organisations including the Environment Agency, Centro, Groundwork Trust and various services areas within Wolverhampton City Council. A great deal has been achieved in addressing key strategic challenges of a cleaner, safer, greener environment. The group also makes sure local needs and priorities are reflected in procurement and purchasing arrangements. There are a number of 'Green' targets in Wolverhampton's Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy which runs until 2006/07. The challenge faced by the Green City Group is to help achieve these outputs with funds released by the Neighbourhood Environmental Action Teams. Local environmental services across the UK are being encouraged to balance activities and resources between cleansing/maintenance, education/awareness and enforcement. There are also proposals to realign Neighbourhood Environmental Action Teams resources. |
